BOWLING ASSOCIATION.

SURVEY OF MEMBERSHIP. MANAWATU CENTRE’S STRENGTH Membership of the New Zealand Bowling Association, according to the annual report recently issued, totals 17.294, an increase of 602 over the figure of 16 692 for the 1936 season. Tlmre are 367 clubs and 22 centres affiliated, the North Island having 11 centres, 215 clubs, and 11,097 members.

The Manawatu Centre has a membership of 717, compared with 681 in the 1936 season, the playing strength of the various clubs being as follows: Pahiatua 89. Palmerston North 74. Levin 61. Northern 58. Woodville 55, Terrace End 55. Feilding 50, Oroua 49. Taharo 47. Dannevirke 43. Manawatu 42, Foxton 31, Eketahuna 25, Bulls 20 and Shannon 18.

The report discloses a credit balance of £528 12s, tournament entry fees having shown an increase of £94.. The headquarters of the association will be transferred to Dunedin for the coming season. The International Bowling Board has accepted an invitation to send a team to New Zealand.
