AUSTRALIA BEATEN.

WIN FOR ENGLISH TEAM. BRISBANE, July 18. England heat Australia at Association football by four goals to nil on Saturday. Twenty-five thousand people witnessed the match and the gate receipts amounted to £I7OO. England was clearly superior, scoring two goals in the first 11 minutes and leading at half-time by this margin. The play of the English backs was too much for the Australian attack. The forwards were unable to make an impression against it. England played grand football and won very easily. Showery weather restricted the attendance. Tlie ground was dead and the ball slippery, hut this was not responsible for Australia’s eclipse. For England, goals were scored by Matthews (2), Easthnm and Finch.
