ROVERS v. THISTLE. The teams in the Rovers v. Thistle match were:— Thistle.—Kempson, G.’ Downes, Curtis, Forbes, Nicholls, Moore, Watson, E. Downes. Petersen, Allan, Hooker. Rovers.—Davidson, D. Anderson, Kendall, Laing, Oman, Sullivan, Wylie, Holden, K. Anderson, C. Hart, F. llarf. The first half was noticeable for its up and down play, both teams being evenly matched. The diminutive F. Hart played a steady, subtle game. Rovers were, however, more scientific than their opponents, e’ven though at half-time the score was even—l all. Thistle’s positional play was good and both teams had the ball well under control. In the second half Thistle did hotter than Rovers to win. Goals for Thistle were secured by Allan a,nd Hooker, while C. Hart secured one Rover goal and Curtis, of the opposition, lvho kicked into his own goal, secured the other. The referee was Mr Hesketli. ATHLETIC EASILY BEATEN. The teams in the Athletic v. St. Andrew’s match were :
Athletic.—Brougham, Warner, Blaikie, Crowe, Harkness, Armstrong, Allan, Dingwall, Young, Fairclough, Jacques. St. Andrew’s.—Chilton, Young, Martin, Lock, Gatley, Horn, Turnbull, Lyon, Brill. St. Andrew’s distinguished themselves with several nice passing rushes which carried them into the Athletic goalmouth. They were apt, however, to nullify their good work hv poor shooting. A newcomer from Auckland, Blaikie. showed good form. St. Andrew’s allowed the ball to get away from them on several occasions and, despite their convincing win, were not up to their usual standard. Scores for St. Andrew’s were made by Young (3). Martin (2), Gatley (2) and Turnbull, and Dingwall (2), Warner and Crowe shot for Athletic. The referee was Mr Geekie.
