(From Our Own Correspondent.) OPIKI, July 15. _ The gardening circle of tho Women s Institute hold a successful euchre and dance on Wednesday evening. Dances and items i followed each other in quirk succession and novelty dances were provided for the voimg and nol-so-young. Mr G. Yule was AI.C. and Airs G. Larsen took charge of the euchre. Airs Atkineon, of lokomaru. was tho winning lady, and Air Phillips won the men's prize. Miss June Scott and some of her pupils delighted everybody with their dancing. Two tiny tots. did tap dancing and received well merited applause, and an older pupil did an Irish jig in which she portrayed the spirit of tlie dance very cleverly and her graceful skipping dance was most pleasing. Aliss J. Percy also sang delightfully and was accorded an encore. Novelty dauccs were won by Mrs Buglass and Air G. Yule, and bv ' Airs J. Mabev and partner. Betty Wilde and Charles Marriott won the children’s lucky spot polka. Among those pro-cut were Alesdames B. A. Norman in ekv blue velvet; N. Alaby, black lace; J. Percy, Alissoe Alatthews, wine marocain, fur coat; Beard, Parma violet taffeta: J. Allwright, pale ' blue erepo; D. Irwin, pink; D. Buglass, primrose taffeta; V. Henderson black; J. Air and Airs V. Claridge left on Wednesday for Tauranga and Auckland. Air and Airs Hansen also left at tho beginning of tho week for the north. Airs A. Alahoy. _ of Papatawa, has roturned home after visiting Mrs N. Mabev. Airs 11. Cook is at present at tho Ilutt.
