MODEL ’PLANES.

ENTHUSIASM DISPLAYED. Several of the beginners in the Imperial Model Aero Club are making good progress and, having in some cases no previous experience, their enthusiasm has been remarkable. Good flights were obtained by L. Petersen with his petrol model on a recent morning; although several attempts were made in the afternoon, the wind was too strong, the machine being thrown on to a wing tip after rising to ]Oft or 12ft. Little damage was done, however, but it was decided to call flying off. Members are enthusiastic, and it appears that the visitors for the Labour Day contests will have some opposition. It is expected that at least one hundred visitors will he coming to Palmerston North. Tests with gliders have given a help for new constructions. iShapes in fuselage construction have also helped.
