MARTON, June 5. Mr W. J. Webb has been appointed ambulance officer of the Marten Division of St. John Ambulance Brigade. Mr Webb lias been closely connected with the local brigade since its inception in 1931. Mr E. G. Eriedrick presided over the monthly meeting of the committee of the Marton Junction School. The report on attendance for the seeond term showed a marked drop us compared with the figures for the first j term when the percentage was exceptionally high. The headmaster reported having handed over f-J towards the Healtli Camp Fund. At the annual meeting of the Chess Club. The following officers were elected: —President, Mr R. Tippler; vice-president, Mr J. Ostler; captain, Mr T. C. Thwaites; secretary-treas-urer, and deputy-captain, Mr R. Thwaites; Mr G. Mumford was elected a member of the committee. Several new members were nominated and will be ballotted for next club night. The question of altering the club night was discussed and it was decided to change to T uesdav nights. The annual donation to the Eire Brigade was fixed at 15s, and the secretary was instructed to write to the brigade, thanking them for the use of the room.
