(From Our Own Correspondent.) EKETAIIUNA, June 4. Mr W. P. Drummond, of Ashburton, has been on a visit to Ekctahuna. Mr N. M. Berry, of Dunedin, arrived to-day on a visit to his mother, nurse A. M. Berry. Mrs L. Green is visiting her mother. Mrs E. Coster. Mrs Peeling, of Parkvillo, celebrated her 81st birthday this week. She received muny .congratulatory messages. Registration figures of motor vehiclos locally to date are: Cars 386, trucks 105, motor-cycles 14. Mrs Hughes and Miss McGlashan, of Wellington, have been on a visit to tho latter’s parents at Rongomai. To dale tho County Council has issued 385 drivers’ licenses and the Borough Council has issued 105 licenses. Mrs Ilawkins presided over a modorato attendance at tho monthly meeting of tho Nireaha Women’s Institute. Owing to unforeeen circumstances the delegates were unable to attend tho conference held in Maslerton. The roll call. “Washing Day Hints,” brought forth many holpful suggestions. Miss Spring gave a talk on her recent visit to the hopfiolds at Nelson. Mrs Hansen was first in the best bloom competition with a beautiful chrysanthemum, Mrs and Miss Petersen tying for second place. Mrs Mason was first, with Mrs competition. In tho French knitting eomDrysdalo second, in tho peanut butter petition, Mrs Drysdnlo was first, with Mrs Blowitt second, both exhibits being tea cosies. Mrs Williams was hostess.
