FILM IN CHURCH
LONDON EXPERIMENT. London’s first moving picture religious service has been arranged. The service will include a screening of “The Passing of the Third Floor Back.” Rev. Brian Hession, the organiser, told a representative of the Daily Telegraph that film services in the country had attracted big audiences, and he had decided to try the experiment in London. “The average church service does not reach the multitude, and films obviously talk the language they understand,” said Mr Hession. “It is time an attempt was made to use films for good.” The service will begin with a “shot” of the Cross, mid then the words of the hymn, “Praise My Soul, tho lying of Heaven.” The serpen then will fade to tho words, “Let us , pray” and the Lord’s Prayer. “I asure .you it will be a new experience to hear 2000 worshippers praying simultaneously,” added Mr Hession. “After that I will read tho lesson, there wil lie another hymn, and tho film, ‘Tho Passing of the Third Floor Back.' ” The service will finish with a hymn while the collection is being made. Mr Hession’s experiment is supported by a number of bishops and leading clergymen.
