It was pointed out that it was an unwritten law in vogue lor a number of years that the last day of the Manawatu meeting should be December 29 m any year, ’the dates as agreed upon leifc only one clear day lor horses to travel from Palmerston North to the Wairarapa, Hawke’s Bay, Stratford, and Marton New Year meetings. Ihe opinion expressed was that this was not fair to the owners or the clubs mentioned raping on January 1 and 3. A resolution was carried that a strong protest be made to" the Dates Committee against these dates being granted to Manawatu and that dates be altered to December 27, 28 and 29. Wairarapa, Hawke’? Bay and Stratford Clubs are to be asked to co-operate with Marton in the protest. This situation has arisen through Boxing Day falling on a Sunday. The programme for the spring meeting was adopted.
