FROZEN MEAT TRADE.

LAMB MARKET VERY FIRM. CHILLED BEEF. IMPROVES. The lamb market is very firm with a further, improvement in prices. Mutton market: Wethers meeting with good trade, with prices again higher. Ewes, market quiet and unchanged. Beef market: Frozen beef, 110 quotations as none available. Chilled beef, very firm, with prices higher. New Zealand porker pigs: Trade slow with prices unchanged. New Zealand baconer pigs: Slightly easier owing to weak bacon market. The above report was received on Saturday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the approximate prices realised for the week, based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods offering during the week, being for business (lone on the basis of delivered to Smitlifield market and/or ex London stores. Prices for the two previous weeks are also shown :

MUTTON MARKET STEADY. Compared with last week’s quotations, Down lamb, 281 b to 361 b, Jcl per lb higher; crossbred lamb, 2811> to 361 b, -id per lb higher; second quality lamb, id per lb higher; wethers, under 561 b, id per lb higher; 561 b to 641 b, §d per lb higher; 641 b to 721 b, id per lb higher; others unchanged. The lamb market continues firm. The mutton market is steady. The above cabled advice was received on Saturday by Levin and Co., Ltd., from their London agents, who quote current delivered” prices as under: —North.-Island. The Bank of New Zealand (produce department) has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business last week: Smaller supplies of wethers have caused prices to harden. The market for ewes is dull. The market for lamb is firm, but the demand is not ho good.
