CAR CONVERSION.
PLEA OF GUILTY ENTERED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 5. . “I want to know more about this young man,” stated Mr Wyvern Wilson S.M., in the Police Court when William Lewis Baker, aged 25, a wool cl.asscr, nppeared on a charge M converting a motor car valued at LJoU, the property of Muriel Isobel Peddie, of Hastings', at Napier on April IJ. Detective-Sergeant McHugh said that following the disappearance of the motor car it was seen two days later in Wellington in the possession of the accused, who hooked in at an hotel under an assumed name. It was m a garage until April 22, when accused drove it a wav and, when he was arrested in Auckland on charges of obtaining credit by fraud, it was recovered from a garage. Baker was reluctant to speak of himself, as he said lie did not want to hurt his parents, who were well respected m Hawke s Baker, who pleaded guilty, was remanded to appear for sentence on Juno 17.
