BILL TO END TIPPING.

ARGUMENT IN FRANCE. Received June 7, 9.40 a.m. PARIS, June 0. The Bill to abolish tipping was passed in the Chamber of Deputies by 267 votes to 265, but it is unlikely that the Senate accept it. . The supporters of the Bill argued that the practice was subversive to human dignity and contrary to the idea of a just reward for one’s services. The opponents contended that nobody was really ashamed to take a tip, which constituted a regular dependable source of income. Even if the Bill is passed it would have little effect, as is shown in Italy where tipping is illegal but is still persisted in.
