CANTERBURY PARK. TROUBLES FOR TROTTING CLUB. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 7. The troubles of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club are coming thick and fast. Two major problems will occupy the members of the committee at the special meeting to-morrow morning. One is whether the club will race at Riccarton next Saturday or abandon the meeting, and the other a protest by the Ashburton Trotting Club, which lodged an objection with the New Zealand I rotting Conference on the ground that the Ashburton Club is racing on Wednesday and wishes to have the next Saturday free in the event of postponement thrvtgh bad weather conditions, Thu objection raised by Ashburton has created considerable stir, as this is believed to be the iirst occasion on which an application has been made to reserve a date. It is understood that severat of the members of the committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club are willing that the Canterbury Park Club race at Riccarton. The owners and trainers felt that the Canterbury Park Club is under an obligation to hold the meeting, as they had been put to considerable expense ill keeping their horses in strict training-for several weeks.
