PLUNKET SOCIETY.
Members of the committee of file Feilding Plunket Society entertained four retiring members, Mesdames S. Sievers. C. J3ailey, 1\ G. Stevens, and Miss 1). Miller, at an afternoon gathering, this week. Bowls of Iceland poppies and autumn foliage ornamented the lounge, while the afternoon tea tables were graced with crystal vases of poppies. On arrival, the' guests of honour were presented with shoulder posies. Mrs A. C. McCorkiudale, president of the society, on behalf of the committee, voiced their regret at losing tour valued members, and stated that all felt their places would be hal'd to fill. Mrs Bailey I had given over ten years’ service on the committee, and her talents also had been freely used tor the benefit of the branch. Mrs Sievers also had been an enthusiastic worker and a generous supporter. Paying a special tribute to the work of Mrs Stevens, lion, secretary, and of Miss Miller, treasurer, the president stated that the branch had indeed been fortunate in having had such expert assistance, as that given so willingly by both ladies. Mrs P. Mason (vicepresident) endorsed Mrs McCorkindale’s remarks and hoped that the retiring members would continue their interests in Plunket affairs. Mrs Mason also congratulated the president on being the recipient ol , a Coronation medal. Appropriate speeches were made by ( the guests of honour and Mrs Me- , Corkindale thanked members for the ( congratulations and cordial remarks made to her. | Two competitions proved an amus- i ing diversion, the winners being Mrs - 15. Pair and Miss Murdock. Those j present included : Mesdames T. Collins, McCorkindale, F. Mason, \Y. a Green, S. Sievers, P. G. Stevens, C. Hailey, C. Aliilen, V. Stichbury, B. ( McGregor. C.
