FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
COURT MANAWATU, A.O.F. A fair number attended' the fortnightly meeting of Court Manawatu this week, when C.R. Pro. Burgess presided. Before commencing: the business eferenee was made to the passing of two respected- members, Bros, Harding and Parks, and arrangements were made to attend the funeral of the lot* Rro. Harding, It was also decided t<> c 6rward letter? of sympathy to the relatives. Apologies for absence were received 'from several who were unable to-attend. The Woodwards reported that since the last meeting two members had declared on the funds, while nil other sick members were progressing favourably-. Three candidates for membership were initiated hy C.R. Bro. Burgess, assisted by P.C.R. Bro. Robinson. Owing to social activities on the next meeting night it was decided to start this meeting earlier so as to finish by 8 p.m. It was decided to fix a time limit for the guinea prize for the member nominating most *new candidates, which will he from May 17, 1937, to May 17, 1938. In defending a challenge for the Friendly Societies’ Council bowls shield against. Loyal Manawatu Lodge on Tuesday evening' Cqurt Manawatu lost by 11, the scores being 39 to 28. This was the first game of the season for the shield.
