EARTH TREMOR.
AUCKLAND’S EXPERIENCE. FIRST FOR SEVERAL YEARS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 3
A prolonged earth tremor was ex-perience-d in Auckland at 11.36 this morning, being followed by another distinct shock at 12.13 p.m. There is no., seismograph in the City and consequently there is no record of its duration, hut the first shock was felt in several pa.rts of the city, notably in tall buildings. \ Office and factory equipment rattled, telephone hells rang, and light globes swung. People seated at desks experienced a dizzy feeling. On one tall building ia table on the top floor moved several feet, rattling and wobbling. Reports indicate that many walls creaked hut the tremor was not of siuficient intensity toTfrs generally obseived. Some said it was sustained for nearly thirty seconds or thereabouts. The second 6hake was not 60 generally felt. It is believed the shakes were moving from east to west. 11 is some years since Auckland experienced an earthquake.
