NON-INTERVENTION.
SUB COMMITTEE MEET. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 31. A Press report issued to-night after the meeting of the chairman’s subcommittee of the Non-Intervention Committee states that the representatives of the United Kingdom, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, France, Portugal, Sweden and the U.S.S.R. were present. Mr Euan Wallace, chairman of the committee, communicated to the subcommittee the text of a letter received from the German representative explaining why, on instructions from the German Government, he would be unable to be present. Mr Wallace added that just before the meeting the Italian representative had informed him tliat for similar reasons he also would be unable to be present. . The representatives present indicated that they proposed to report to their respective Governments the situation disclosed in the statement made by the chairman. They also requested the chairman to summon a further meeting as soon as he thought this would be advisable.
