LAUNCHING OF MEMBERSHIP DRIVE. The first rally in connection with the Y.W.C.A. Girl Citizens’ membership drive was held last evening in the a lively, keen, and happy spirit-Qf rivalry prevailing. This membership drive is taking the form of a competition between the Tuesday and Friday night citizens. The Tuesday citizens represent the red team, Friday citizens the blue team. The slogan is “Every girl get a girl.” A large chart has. been prepared demoting a rainbow trail, with a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and as the club. 4 bring their new members they will be recorded on the rainbow trail. Special songs have been prepared for the respective teams and special leaflets are available giving details of the Girl Citizens’ Movement. Girl who are ambitious, girls who are shy, girls who seek friendships, girls who enjoy doing interesting things—acting in plays, making useful pieces of handcraft, sports—indoor and outdoor—who enjoy a jolly and profitable evening {frith other girls are being urged to join—all girls between 13 and 18 years of age.

Tbs Girl Citizens’ movement is the junior department of the largest women’s organisation in the world. Girl citizens are uniform throughout New Zealand. The party last evening was' organised by the Girl Citizens' council arid 1 the supper committee were as follows:—Misses D. Judd, B. Williamson, A. Bredin, M. Watts, A. Pederson, "A. Wattereus, R ; Matthews, A. ‘ Black; programme committee, Misses Cut’ten, J. Judd, pj. Gilberd, and M. Forrest. Each team wore their team colours and sang their team songs. Games and competitions appropriate to the purpose of the evening were the order. The supper tables were gaily decorated in red and blue and the evening was concluded by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and calling for cheers for the respective teams. The earnest co-opera-tion of all was urged in the way of acquainting girls with the activities of the Girl Citizens’ movement.
