OBITUARY.

HR F. GRACE. Another very old of the Sandon district passed away on Friday, after a lengthy illness, in the person of Mr Frank Grace. The lale Mr Grace, who was born in Sydney 71 years ago, came to New Zealand, with his parents when he was a few months’ old. '1 ho family resided at the Hutt for about eight years. Mr Grace was the second son of Mr and Mrs C. Grace, who took up section 16, of the Hutt ' small farms settlement in the township of Sandon in 1872. Mr Grace, senr., brought his family to live on this scct'on at the; end of the following year, where the late Mr F. Grace had lived on the same property, which eventually became his own. Mr Graco was of a retiring disposition; and, although he did not take a prom'nent part in public life, he was very musical and was always delighted to help and take part in any entertainments. Mr Grace was always a source of information on the early days or the district, and used to delight his hearers w : th witty anecdotes of tile happenings of those days. He is survived bv his wife, and four children. There are" Mrs Frank Harris (Ilaetihi), Miss Sheila Grace (Sanson), and Messrs , D. W. and C. Grace (also of Sanson); there are two grandchildren. S sters surviving. Mr Grace are Mrs 0. Tyerman (Palmerston North), Mrs Clapham (Feeding) and Mrs Ellerni (Mt. S:ewart). A private : nterment took place yesterday at the Sandon Cemetery. After returning from a football match at Picton with the team which he coached, Mr John Michaels Casey, aged 56, a farmer of Grovetown, collapsed after entering his home and died. He was widely known in Rugby circles as a Marlborough representative forward, representative selector, a coach and a member of the union. MR H. L. D. WEST. Per Press Association. TAURANGA, May 31. The death has occurred suddenly from heart failure of Mr H. L. D. West, an architect in practice here. He was born in Timaru 50 years ago, being the 6on of Mr Daniel West, well-known architect to the Canterbury Education Board. He was educated in Timaru, where he qualified as an architect. He was interested in polo and hunting and was a member ofthe Paeora Polo Club, the South Canterbury Hunt Club 'and also was a gentleman rider. He rode many events in the Canterbury' Jockey Club’s meeting 22 years ago.
