PROFIT OVER £2OO. FOR GRANDSTAND FUND. The concluding meeting of the A. and P. Ball Committee was held .yesterday afternoon, when Mr J. A. Russell presided. In stating that a profit of £2l" 8s 5d had, to date, been made on the ball, the secretary (Mr Hugh Kissling) stated that all the ticket returns had not yet come to hand, but when they did there would be a sutetanti.nl increase. He reported that the revenue aggregated £3lO 18s 9d. / Mr Russell: The effort has been a wonderful success—a success which was only made possible by the help of a wonderful team of workers, chief amongst them being the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr and Mrs Mansford), Mr and Mrs D. Buchanan, Mr and Mrs E. W. Collins, Mr and Mrs H. R. Green, Mrs Field. Mrs Bond, the "Women’s Institute, the "Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union and Air T. A. Hastings, who was in charge of the gates. A vote of thanks, moved by the chairman, to all who had helped in any way, was seconded bv Mr J. A. Nash, who said that, without a doubt, an annual A. and P. Ball would be looked forward to with keen anticipation. He referred to the fact that the younger dancers had enjoyed the oldtime programme just as well as their elders. Air Nash asked that the names of Air and Airs Russell be included in the list Air Russell had enumerated. He complimented them upon being “the right people in the right place.” Mrs Russell paid a tribute to the hand of helpers for the way' in which they.-ha.d tackled the work. It was decided, on the motion of Air Nash, that an advertisement should be inserted in the newspapers thanking all who had helped the ball to success. It was reported that Alessrs Collinson and Cunninghame had won the ticket selling competition, with the Imperial News Agency second. A motion of thanks was passed to the chairma.n for the able way in which he had directed matters. Air W. H. Brown, in congratulating the committee on its decision to devote the funds to the placing of a roof on the main grandstand, intimated that it was a work from which the public would derive great benefit. The public should take more interest in the work. _ The secretary informed the meeting that the sum of £332 had so far been collected for the purpose.
