ARMY TRAINING
TWO NEW ZEALANDERS. COURSE IN ENGLAND. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 31. Arrangements have now l>een -completed with the War Office for Major N W. Mcl>. Weir, N.Z.S.C., who commanded the New Zealand Coronation Contingent, and for Sergeant W. \ . Douglas, N.Z.P.S., one of the regular NCO’s with tho contingent, to remain'in England to attend certain courses with tho regular army. In making this announcement tonight, the Minister of Defence (Hon F Jones) said tha.t Major Weir would attend the senior officers course at Sheerness from the end of May until the middle of August, and would then be attached to the units of the regular army for a month during the manoeuvre period. “The senior officers’ school,” said Mr Jones, “is maintained fur the purpose of training officers who have been selected for eventual appointments to tho command of cavalry regiments, artillery brigades or mfan“Serges!nt'Douglas, who was formerly physical training instructor at the training depot at Trentham, has been sMected 0 to attend a physical training bourse from June 22 to August 5 During the three weeks between the departure of the Coronation Contingent W the commencement of the course he will he attached to a line regiment for training-”
