IMPRESSIVE FUNERAL. WELLINGTON, June 1. The bells of St. Peter’s yesterday morning knelled the departure of one whose influence and example within the sound of those bells have been ■xemplary and far-reaching. The funeral of the late Canon T. Eielden faylor, miesioher of St. Peter’s, was a remarkable tribute to a man whose life was one long effort for the welfare jf others. The funeral was one ot die largest seen in Wellington for a .ong time. Not only were the City Mission L’iiapel and the main hall in Taranaki r>Leet tilled to overflowing long petore the funeral service began, but the entrance and approacii were -nronged with mourners who must have iiumu_red some / 000 or bOOO. The funeral service was held in the Jity Mission chapel, every seat being occupied. The cervine opened with a procession of the clergy of the Church if England, headed .by Dr. T. H. oprott, late Bishop of Wellington, inder whom the canon had serveu for o many years. The service at the City Mission and die crematorium was conducted by the dev. H. £>. I. Kenny, vicar of Petone, .i ho was assisted by Rev. E. M. Mcjevie, vicar of Roseneath. During the service the casket rested n the centre aisle of the chapel, drapid with a Union Jack, upon which ested hut one wreath of scarlet flow■is, that of the widow. It was at the peeial request of Mr Taylor that no loral tributes should mark his departire from this earth. The pall-bearers at the City Mission vere representatives of the various organisations connected with the St. Jeter’s Mission.
