CRICKETERS’ SOCIAL.

PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. Trophies won in the cricket season just closed were presented at a social and dance arranged by the Cricket Association and held last night in the Parish Hall. The gathering was largely attended. In the absence of the president of the association (Mr C. E. Taylor) who was out of town, Mr G. J. Fitzpatrick (vice-president) announced the winners. The Guthrie Shield for the senior competition was won by the Old Boys team, the Smithers Shield for the junior competition went to the Union Club, and the Bartholomew Cup, for ihe team securing the highest batting average as a team, was awarded to the Feilding Club.

The Mayor. (Mr T. Collins) handed over the trophies with his congratulations. ■

Mrs T. Donaldson had. charge of the supper arrangements, which were very complete and satisfactory, and Mr M. Barltrop was a very successful organiser of the functioil.
