LURICH BEATS ELLIOTT. SYDNEY, April 11. Wrestling at the Leichhardt Stadium, Tom Lurich. beat King Elliott by two falls to one. Elliott secured the first' fall in the fourth round with a flying tackle, and he thrice had the champion in great difficulty with a short arm-bar. Lurich took his first fall in the sixth round with a figure four scissors and body press, and ho clinched the match in the seventh with a backslant.

SEASON OPENS ON SATURDAY. The tour of the Australian champion amateur wrestlers includes a visit to Palmcrston North next Saturday, when they will meet the best of the provincial amateurs from Hawke's Bay, Wanganui, Wai-, rarapa, and the Manawatu at the Opera House. As the duration of the visitors' stay in New Zealand is limited, local patrons aro fortunate to have a tournament in the city, and tho local management of this sport is doing everything in its power to make this a popular event. The prices for admission will be 2s for the stadium seats and only Is to any other part of the theatre; with such an attraction the Opera House should be filled to capacity. The Australian team comprises one of each class from bantam-weights up to heavyweights, and the pick of the provincial matrnen nearest tho weight of the Australian in his class will be matched. The others will be matched against wrestlers from different towns, and a contingent of Wellington's best amateurs will help to make this tho most important amateur tourney ever held here.
