MAItTON, April 9. Or W. Doole presided over the monthly meeting of the Bangitikei County Council to-day. A circular letter was received from the Prime Minister appealing for a donation for the King George V Memorial Fund. Decision was deferred until the next meeting. A committee comprising Crs Belk, Coleman and Dalziell, with power to act, was set up to deal with the Coronation celebrations outlined by the Prime Minister in a circular letter. The AuditorGeneral wrote consenting to the annual charges on the llangitoto riding bridges loan being met from the General Account. The Department of Internal Affairs wrote advising the gazetting of the council’s special order concerning the abolishing of the riding accounts. The Public Works Department wrote advising that the department will take over tire maintenance of the two State highways in the county as from April 1, 1936, and seven of the county surfacemen. The town clerk, Wellington, wrote forwarding copies of the resolutions passed at a representative meeting of local authorities held in Wellington concerning the Local Bodies Officers’ Union claims.

Mr K. W, Dairy mple, of Bulls, is on a ivapiti-stalking expedition in the Fiordland country, in the far south of the west coast, South Island, Mr JI. C. S. McKenzie, of Bulls, was elected president of the Wanganui Dugin - Union at the annual meeting last night. Mr McKenzie has been a force in the Rugby world of this district, having been president of the Raugitikei Sub-Union for a number ot years, while he also has served with distinction as a member of the management committee of the Wanganui Union.
