FROZEN MEAT. INCREASED KILLINGS. Killings of fat stock for export at all Dominion works daring the 5i months of tho 1936-37 season ended March 15 show an increase of nearly 500,000 lambs compared with those for tho corresponding period of la6t season. Chilled beef increased by 29,558 quarters, blit frozen beef decreased by 26.041 quarters. According to the roturns issued by the Meat Board, killings of ewe mutton decreased by 93,311 carcases, but this was largely offset by an increase of 00,333 carcases of wether mutton. The total killings of ewes and wethers were 559.763 oarcai-ce. as against 912,741 carcases last season, a net decrease of 12.978 carcases. Killings of pork during the 5j months decreased by 7996, this season's total to March 15 being* 403.805 carcases, compared with 411,801 carcases last season. The Meat Board is advised by its I .ondon office that the shipments from Attstralia. South America, and Soutli Africa to the United Kingdom during the first, half of .March were as follows: — Australia. —43,935 carcases mutton. 48.184 carcases lamb, 4483 quarters beef (frozen), 13,016 quarters beef (chilled). South America. —2372 carcases mutton, 61.707 carcases lamb, 250 quarters beef (frozen), 216,238 quarters beef (chilled). South Africa.—42s7 quartern beet (chilled). . The shipments from New Zealand to the United Kingdom for the first half of March were as f0110w587,224 carcases mutton, 585.512 carcases lamb, 3552 quarters beef (frozen), 9295 quarters beef (chilled).
