LABOUR DAILY.
REASON FOR ABANDONMENT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 29. An adverse report on the proposals to establish one oi* more metropolitan Labour daily newspapers in the Dominion was presented to the annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party to-day by the National Executive Committee. Careful consideration had been given to the desirability of establishing one or more Labour daily papers, the executive reported. The establishment of one daily newspaper would involve £IOO,OOO and four papers, one in each of the main centres, would require £500,000. It was felt that the cost was not justified and adequate publicity could be secured in other ways. The executive therefore recommended for the present time that an endeavour be made to raise £25,000 with the object of making the party’s official organ a more effective means of publicitv on the existing weekly basis. The conference adopted the recommendation.
