EARL KITCHENER OF KHARTOUM. LONDON. March 29. .V message from Nairobi. Kenya Colonv, says that Earl Kitchener of Khartoum and of Broome lias died. The second Karl Kitchener was born in 1846. entered the Army in 1866, and served in the Franco-Prussian War, in the Manipur Expedition of 1691, and in South-East Africa in 1914-16. _ lie also saw service during the World War as Assist-ant-Adjutant-General on lines of communication. lie succeeded to the earldom m 1916 when his famous younger brother, the first Earl, was lost on H.M.S. Hampshire while on a military mission to Russia: He retired from (be Army with the rank of Colonel in the Duke of Cornwall's Eight Infantry. The heir to the title is Viscount Broome, who was born in 1919 and is a grandson of the second Earl
