INFANT’S DEATH.
VERDICT AT INQUEST. A verdict of accidental death by suffocation was returned by the Coroner (Mr A. J. Graham), at inquest held yesterday into the death, which occurred on Saturday afternoon, of the 3i-months-old child of Mr and Mrs K. A. Hansen, of Batt Street. Evidence was given by Mrs Hansen that the child, who was in a perambulator on the verandah, was normal when she saw her shortly after noon, but at 1.30 p.m. she found her lying flat, face downwards, on the pillow. Dr. Chisholm testified that the child failed to revive under artificial respiration. Everything was compatible with the child having been suffocated, as described by her mother. It was quite a simple matter for a child of these tender months to be suffocated.
