CHAMPION LAMBS

JUDGING AT SMITHFIELD. DISTRICT SUCCESSES. In connection with the cabled news appearing in the “Standard” recently to the effect that in the export lamb competition the Manawatu district had won the North Island Shield, similar advice was received from the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board by the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association, yesterday. Details of tho awards show that Mr C. D. Collis (Kairanga), with pen No. 404, entered the best individual pen in the North Island, and Mr Alex McDonald (Raumai), with pen No. 393, was placed second for tho best individual pen in the North Island. It is interesting to note that these placings wore identical with those made on the hooks at the Longburn freezing works.
