LONDON’S MEAT SUPPLIES.

MUTTON AND LAMB DECREASE,

Supplies of meat handled at the central markets in London during tho 12 months ended December 31, 1936, show a slight increase in beef and veal, and decreases in mutton and lamb and pork and bacon compared with the figures for 1935, _ according to the official returns received by the Meat. Board. Total supplies of beef and veal were 248,738 tons, an increase of 469 tons. Mutton and lamb totalled 134,927 tons, a decrease of 7919 tons, while pork and bacon at 50,088 tons, decreased by 185 tons. The beef and veal figures compare as

Home supplies of beef and veal decreased by 1820 tons. Scottish were 380 tons up, with Irish 858 tons down. Australian supplies showed an' increase of 1087 tons, and New Zealand 1321 tons. Supplies from Canada were up by 1304 tons, while those from Southern Rhodesia decreased by 1133 tons, and Argentine supplies were 211 tons down. The figures for mutton and lamb com-
