PAHIATUA, Feb. 20.

Miss Betty Brooks, of Mangatainoka, is staying with Mrs J. S. i\eison, of Papatawa. Mrs W. T. Brown, who has been spending a holiday in Wellington, has returned home. Mrs Miller, ot .Wellington, and Mr and Miss Wallace, of Tiraumea, are staying with Mr and Mrs Brown. Mrs Beatrice, of Wellington, is visiting Paliiatua. The Methodist church, Pahiatua, was the scene of a pretty wedding when Elsie Maud, only daughter of Mrs Keast and the late Mr Keast, was married to Robert Burns, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. Glassey. Escorted by her brother, Mr Wilton Keast, the bride looked charming in white lace over pearl satin, with long slimming lines falling at the back to form a train prettily finished with georgette accordeon pleating at the shoulders, and tight fitting at the wrists. The frock was finished with a long tulle veil fitted with a halo of pearls and orange blossom. The bride carried a bouquet of carnations and maidenhair fern. She was attended by Misses Gladys Osborne (chief bridesmaid) and E. Braddick. Mr E. Harford was best man and Mr Thomas Glassey, brother of the bridegroom, groomsman. Before Messrs A. Barrell and L. H. Hartley, J.P.’s, in the Magistrate’s Court, Keith Ambrose Carroll, aged 34, pleaded guilty to a serious charge and was. committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence. Tho prosecution was handled by SeniorSergeant Mclntyre, of Palmerston North, and accused was represented by Mr Graham Crossley, also of Palmerston North.
