SUCCESSFUL DANCERS.
Miss Jean Scott and her pupils have been very successful again in Highland dancing. At the Oroua Downs sports Miss Scott added to her list of New Zealand championships by winning the North Island open championship for the sword dance. Naucye Conway was placed first in the Highland fling (under 8) and second in the Highland fling (under 10). Yvonne Nicholson gained second place in the sailors’ hornpipe (12 years and under) and Joyce Waller was placed third in the sword dance (under 16). At the Bunnythorpe sports on Saturday last, Yvonne Nicholson gained first in the Highland fling, second in the sailor’s hornpipe and sword dance (under 14). Beverlie Bennett gained second in the Highland fling (8 and under) and June Shacldeton third in the same class ; while in the 16 years and under class Isa McKenzie gained first place in the seantriubhas.
