CHRYSANTHEMUM CLUB.

MILES MEMORIAL TROPHY. The Palmerston North Chrysanthemum Club held a meeting in St. Andrew’s session rooms, last night, Mr F. Melhuish being in the chair. Prior to the business, Mr Melhuish made feeling reference to the passing of Mr A. L. Miles, the former secretary of the club, the news of which, he said, had come as a shock. Ho spoke of the long period of servico which Mr Miles had given the club. Mr H. L. Hartog further voiced the club’s regret, and eulogised the service Mr Miles had given, speaking of his many good qualities. A motion of sympathy was carried in silence, and it was decided to place on record the long and valuable service of Mr Miles and the irreparable loss the club had sustained by his death. Mr C. J. Erenstrom, who was appointed secretary, is to write to the wife and family of the deceased gentleman expressing sympathy. It was decided that one ot the trophies for the next show should be called the Miles Memorial Trophy, and that members be asked to contribute to its cost as a method of. expressing their personal appreciation of their happy l associations with Mr Miles. A demonstration was given by Mr J. Adamson on the re-potting of chrysanthemums, and also a lecture on their culture. Mr Adamson was accorded. a yote of thanks,
