SOCIAL EVENING.

Miss May Hancock, whose marriage to Mr W. W. Smith takes place in Wellington to-morrow, was guest of honour at an evening gathering on Wednesday, which was held at the home of Aliss Sheila Whitehouse. Miss Whitehouse received her guests wearing a becoming frock of navy blue georgette finished with a spray of field flowers, while the guest of honour chose floral georgette in green tonings. Games and competitions happily occupied those present, and a savourysupper was served. At a suitable opportunity, Miss Whitehouse, on behalf of those present, asked Miss Hancock to accept two crystal vases, with best wishes for her future happiness. Miss Hancock suitably replied. Among those present were Mrs It. Bailey, Misses M. Richards, N. Moore, N. Smillie, Z. Autridge, M. Cooksley, V. and D. Berryman, M. Currie, !<’. Edwards, T. Holmes and lv. Richards.
