MAYOR r S CHRISTMAS FUND. Shirley Temple has come to town—what a flutter of excitement she is causing! With her curly-top head, and enchanting smile, and dressed in a dainty frock of pink georgette, Shirley is winning the hearts of all who pass her by. They stop to admire the pretty rucking on her frock. the picoted frills, and the little hag she carries which is adorned with wood-pulp roses. Her lingerie is of pink orepo-de-ehine, hemstitched and embroidered throughout. and in her hair she wears sweet little roses. Next week, it is said. Shirley—oh, vanity!—will visit a beauty parlour in Palmerston North and have her hair set. Tt is so curly that it has to ho put in place, you see. so that Shirley can pat her head with a proud little hand, and say: “See, everybody! M.v hair is ever so neat and smart.” Shirlev Temple is a doll which is being disposed of for the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal Fund. and she is seated on a green cushion outside Messrs Coll'nson and Cunninghnmo’s store. The Mayoress (Mrs A. E. Mansford) is in constant attendance, and various lad'cs-'n-wniting assist at different times. The doll was dressed by Mrs R. T. Putman and Miss D. Haggitt.
