AIR MAIL SERVICES. PLANS FOR AFRICAN ROUTE. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Dec. 7. The agreement with Imperial Airways, Ltd., for the operation of the air service between Egypt and South Africa is due to terminate on January 23 1937. It is intended to introduce as from April 1, 1937, an improved air service between England and South Africa via Egypt, operated by flying-boats and carrying without surcharge all firstclass mail of the participating countries en route. This is designed to form the first stage in the introduction of tlie Empire air transport scheme, details of which will be set out in a White Paper in due course. In order to make provision for the operation of the air service between Egypt and South Africa during the period between the termination of the existing agreement and the commencement of the flying-boat service, it is proposed to extend the term of the existing agreement with Imperial Airways Limited to March 31, 1937. In order to maintain the existing connection to West Africa it is also proposed to conclude a temporary agreement with Imperial Airways Ltd. for a weekly service until March 31. 1937, for the carriage of passengers and mails between Khartoum and Lagos.
