TRAFFIC OFFENCES.

FATHER AND SON FINED, e - “This is a case of a father following in his son’s footsteps,” commented the traffic inspector (Mr W. Berry), in the Magistrate’s Court, to-day, beiore Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., when James Clarke, senr., of Kairanga, and liis son, Janies Clarke, junr., were each charged with driving a car in Maxwell’s Line on October 26 (Labour Day), in a manner which, having regard to all the circumstances, might have been dangerous to the public. Mr Berry stated that the younger defendant had pulled out ol the line of traffic proceeding from the Manawatu trotting meeting, and his father had followed him. Each defendant was fined £2, with 12s costs. . ,

James Colville, of Eoxton, was similarly fined for cutting the traffic dome at the corner of Maxwell’s Line and Eoxton Line on the same day. Inspector Berry stated that defendant had failed to stop when signalled and had driven round on the wrong side of the dome. The Ma gistrale, in fining defendant, stated that ’traffic signals must be obeyed.
