DIXON CUP MATCH.

WIN FOll PALMERSTON NORTH. A team from the Palmerston North Bowling Club wrested the Dixon Cup and Tucker Badges from the holders, the Shannon team, at the latter’s green on Saturday afternoon, winning a good game by 22 to 19. The weather was fine until the afternoon tea adjournment, when a light drizzle began, continuing until the conclusion of the game. The visitors began well with a three on the first head, but Shannon gradually went to the front, a five at the sixth head giving them a substantial lead of 13—5. Palmerston North played on steadily, while Shannon did not add to their score after the tea adjournment, but it was not until the 19th head that they drew level with a brace to make the game 19 all. Palmerston North scored another 2 on the next head, and a single on the last gave them an advantage of 3 points. The result was :—Palmerston North, Childs, Mochan, Mowlem, Patou (skip) 22; Shannon, Hemmingside, Grey, C. Hook, Morgan (skip) 19. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The executive of the Manawatu Bowling Centre met on Friday, Mr J. A. Nash presiding over a full attendance with the exception of Mr W. Hunter, who was out of town. It was resolved to order 300 badges for the centre, the sketch of which was approved. Consideration was given to the question of the Empire Games (to be held in Australia next year) and the sending of representatives of New Zealand, whose expenses would be paid by a levy on all the clubs. The executive decided that as all of the centres, like other organised bodies, were not represented on the council,, it was not prepared to enter into the arrangement.

A special committee was set up to inspect and report on greens to be used for the New Year tournament.
