MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., presided over a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court in Palmerston North on Saturday.

Charles William McGee, formerly of Nelson, was charged with a breach of a maintenance order made on June 19, 1916, in respect of his five children, defendant being in arrears to the extent of £lB6 16s. Sergeant O’Donnell stated that Constable 'Purvey had arrested defendant at Palmerston North. He had been in ill-health and was out of work. The maintenance order had expired in 1928. Commenting that it was apparent that defendant could never pay the arrears, the Magistrate convicted and discharged him.
