TREATY WITH ARGENTINE

BEEF AND VEAL DUTY. LONDON, Nov. 26. The Daily Mail reports that the Argentine trade agreement will be retrospective from November 20. It provides for a duty of three farthings a pound on beef and veal, with 20 per cent, ad valorem on tinned meat, and reduces total meat imports. There will be no duty on mutton and lamb, and no reduction until discussion by the Imperial Conference. It is understood that the Argentine will maintain preference for British industrial products. Exchange facilities have been eased with advantage to sterling.
