NATIVE BUSH.
STEPS FOR PRESERVATION Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Nov. 27. Schemes for the preservation of Native bush and beautification of bare spaces bordering New Zealand highways will be the objective of a proposed comprehensive organisation of Government departments, horticultural and beautifying societies, and probably branches of the Farmers’ Union. “I feel that, as a result of several conferences held in Wellington to consider the proposals, success is assured for the work,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. E. Parry). “The proposals drawn up are now ready for Cabinet consideration, and early next year I hope to be able to place the plan decided on before a combined conference of all bodies interested.” . Executive officers of the Agriculture, Education, Forestry, Internal Affairs, Lands, Post and Telegraph, Public Works and Railway Departments had shown enthusiasm for the proposals, Mr Pari-y said. They realised the inestimable value to the country and the people of the work the Government was setting out to do. Horticultural and beautifying societies, with the probable assistance of the Farmers’ Union, linked with the State departments mentioned could, the Minister said, achieve wonderful results in bush preservation and roadside beautification with native flora.
