DAM COLLAPSES IN JAPAN. TOKIO, Nov. 25. The police have decided to arfest an Osarusawa eoppermine executive, on a charge of manslaughter on the ground that he was responsible for the collapse of a dam on Friday last. Mitsubishi, head of the family owning the mine, has given £58,000 to a fund for the victims of the disaster. • Over 300 people were killed and many miners’ houses were swept away when the banks of a reservoir above the Osarusawa copper mine collapsed. It was believed at the time that the dam, 700 fet long and 200 feet high, had burst as the result of heavy rain. The valley below contained six villages with 1300 inhabitants. The victims were swept away with their homes into the Dishiregawa River, whence 250 bodies were recovered.
