STEADY RETURNS.

LAST SEASON’S MEAT PRICES. The work of regulating shipments ot meat to suit the requirements ot the English market is one of the most important functions of the New Zoaland Meat Producers’ Board, and its efforts in this direction have been an important factor 0011tributinjr to the in-aintenfl-nc© of stable prices for New Zealand meat at Home. To show how particularly steady the lamb market has been during this season it is interesting fo note that tho price on Smithfield for North Island prime Down lambs, 361 b and under, was 7 5-8 don February 21 last and in September (seven months later) it was 7 3-Bd. The highest price during that period was 7 5-8 d and the lowest price 7£d (which only lasted for one week) The difference in price has therefore really been practically only 3-8 d per lb during the whole of the important seven months of the consumptive season. An analysis of the Sinithfield prices for Canterbury prime lamb shows a very similar position.
