ROUND TABLE CLUB

ANNUAL DINNER. In tho Rosco tearooms, last evening, the members of the Women’s Round Table Club held their annual dinner. The president (Aliss C. Warburton) was in the chair, and associated with her were the Alayoress (Afrs A. E. Alansford), Airs G. G. Priest (president of the Y.W.C.A. Board) and members of the board, Aliss G. Curtis, president of the Alanawatu branch of the Women Teachers’ Association, who was the principal speaker, and representatives of various women’s organic® tions.

The tables were daintily decorated for the occasion, and at the conclusion of dinner the opportunity was taken by Aliss Warburton, before introducing the .speaker, to extend a general welcome. Aliss Warburton also outlined the purposes of the club.

Aliss Curtis, who was presented with a dainty posy, expressed appreciation of tho gift. She proceeded to speak of the joys of travel and gave impressions of a visit to Sweden, a country very often left out of the traveller’s itinerary, she said; but those who did include it were never disappointed; it could be termed a country of superb beauty. related visits to Stockholm and Gothenburg, and other places - of interest, and spoke in regard to facilities for flat dwellers in Sweden, and the advanced idea of community laundries, nurseries and other services. She referred to the beauty of the city, its buildings, of the finest architecture in tho world, .and the surrounding districts, and how great a part the trees played in this direction. Language difficulties and other joys of travel were recounted. The speaker was accorded a vote of thanks. Aliss D. Southey Baker rendered violin solos, her numbers being “On Wings of Song” (Alendelssohn). “Schon Rosmarin” (Kreisler) and “Clair de Lime” (Debussey); and Aliss Lexie AlcDonald sang two solos, “Trees” (Habe) and “Yellow Hammer.” Aliss E. Eyre was the accompanist for the evening. Airs W. H. Galbraith expressed thanks on behalf of the club to the performers.
