TRANSPORT RULINGS.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Nop. 20. The carrying of passengers by motor companies from cruise ships was mentioned at a sitting of the Transport Licensing Authority, this morning, when a number of licenses were issued subject to an amendment that nothfng in the licenses should authorise the licensees to carry passengers on local trips provided in certain clauses of the schedule. The Authority .was informed that the result of the conference of companies concerned was a satisfactory arrangement in the interests of peace. “L think it a very good move,” said the Authority (My Phelan). Discussing applications for goods service licenses, Mr Phelan expressed the opinion that licenses should be issued for the whole of a county instead a particular district, and for a carrier to object to an extension of the area of another carrier was only tying a rope round his own neck. The less red tape the better.
