MIRAMA TOURNAMENT. WELLINGTON, Oct. IG. The quarter-finals and semi-finals were played yesterday in the Miramar Golf Club’s open championship. Mrs Pearce (Miramar) beat Mrs Harman (Hutt), at the nineteenth; Miss H. Griffen (Miramar) beat Mrs W. G. Turnbull (Wellington), 7 and 5; Miss Lee (Hutt) beat Mrs Russell (Miramar), 4 and 3; Mrs Foreman (Miramar) beat Mrs Monkman (Hutt), 5 and 4. In the semi-finals Mrs Pearce beat Miss Griffen, 4 and 3; Mrs Foreman beat Miss M. Lee, 2 and 1 • In the second round of the Miramar Handicap, Mrs A. McKegg (Manawatu, 14) beat Mrs Richmond (8), 1 up. In the semi-finals Sirs Farmer (10) beat Mrs McKegg, 2 up. BAPTIST MISSIONARY UNION. CONCLUDING MEETING. There were about 300 present at the concluding meeting of the Baptist AVomen’s Missionary Union Assembly, which was held at the Baptist Tabernacle, Auckland. Mrs S. Page, Dominion president, presided. Rev. H. A. Jones, missionary on furlough, and Rev. Royston Brown, missionary designate, received the greetings of the meeting, to which each replied. An address was given by Mrs 11. A. Jones, who spoke of India as the land of temples and described the different forms of worship practised there. The work of the rescue home at Brahmanbaria was the topic of an address given by Miss Eileen Arnold, another missionary on furlough. Mrs H. H. Driver, in farewelling Dr Nola Ivory prior to her early return to India, asked her to accept a gift from the lady delegates, while Mrs J. K. Archer, on behalf of the Canterbury ladies, asked Dr Ivory to accept money to purchase an instrument she required for her hospital work. After a dedicatory prayer by Mrs F. AV. Gaze, the president asked the Dominion treasurer (Aliss AVilkinson) to accept a token of appreciation, in recognition of the work she had done m her official position. Miss S. E. Bell, the new Dominion president, was welcomed by the retiring president. Posies were presented to the executive officers and the lady missionaries.
