MILK SUPPLY.
PREVENTION OF DISEASE. REQUESTS TO CITY COUNCIL. Notification was received by the Palmerston North City Council, last evening, from tho Palmerston branch of the Plunket Society that the latter, at a recent meeting ,liad passed, unanimously the following resolution: — “That this meeting, representative of tho Plunket Society and other women’s organisations, recognising that a tubercular-free milk supply is essential in the interests of human health, strongly urges upon the Palmerston North City Council the desirability of immediately introducing by-laws framed upon similar lines to those recently enforced by the Napier municipality, whereby it will be rendered an offence to supply milk or cream for human consumption except from cows which have been tubercular-tested and certified free from this disease.” The letter was received and referrd to the by-laws committee, together with a communication from the Railway Officers’ Institute requesting that steps be taken to prevent tuberculosisinfected milk from being supplied in Palmerston North.
