LONGBURN.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) LONGBURN, Oct. 1 ;

The Longburn Sports and Pastimes Club held tlioir annual dance and euchre tournament on Tuesday. The hall and stage were gaily decorated. A professional orchestra was in attendance, and with the floor in perfect order the dancers spent an enjoyable evening. Items, which were appreciated were rendered by tho following: Nancy Conway, Highland fling; Phyliss Pallow, skipping and tap dance; Messrs T. Temperton, R. Dilks and J. Johansen, humorous songs; Miss Jean Scott, tap dance. A Monie Carlo waltz was won by Miss M. Gate and Mr T. Schwamn, and a lucky spot dance by Miss O’Connor and Air Wills. Extras were played by Mr C. Shirrifls and Mr I. Fraser. Mr E. A. Searle, president of the club, thanked thoso present' for attending and presented trophies N- tho winners of Abe lablo tennis competition: Mr N. McClelland 1, Mr M. Shirrifls, runner-up: Prizes were presented to Miss T. Oliver, winner cf a competition, and Miss 13. Wilson and Jack Hill for selling tickets.. The euchre tournament was won by the -following:—Ladies, Mns Larsen 1, Mrs Hill 2; men, Mrs McCooch, 1; Air Cross, 2. Mr G. Syverson was M.C. Mrs S. Harper, of Longburn, lias returned from a visit to her mother at Lyall Bay, Wellington. Miss R. McCann, of Taringainotu, is the guest of Afiss Violet Zurchcr.
