RANGITIKEI.
MARTON, Oct. 2
A well attended meeting of Marton Justices of the Peace was held in the Courthouse, this morning, to discuss the recent police transfers. Mr F. C. AVilson presided. The proceedings were taken in camera, and subsequently it was announced that the meeting had decided to respectfully request that Constable Baskin’s services be retained in Marton. . The rainfall in Marton during September, according to fi(Hires supplied by Mr E. J. AVilde, “Mirfield,” was 3.89 in., compared with a total for the nine months of 28.31 in. Rain fell on 18 days, the heaviest fall being on the 10th, when .58in. were recorded.
